Free Flood Class in Miami

Posted on September 08, 2015

We expect 2015 to be a busier than average year for flooding in the United States. Typically, strong El Nino years lead to wetter weather and a greater chance of flood events. The NFIP requires that flood claims be handled by certified or mentored adjusters only. Adjusters must have four years of claims experience to be fully flood certified.

If you are a certified adjuster with an FCN, let this serve as your reminder that you must attend a Workshop or class every year to maintain your certification. When you receive your 2015 FCN card, please provide it to Pilot at compliance@pilotcat.com so we can update your record and consider you for flood deployment. The NFIP does not provide this information to Pilot, even if you are on our roster.

If you are, or wish to become, a flood mentor certified adjuster for Pilot Catastrophe, you must attend a Flood Workshop or class in 2015. Simply provide us with a copy of your certificate of completion/attendance of a 2015 Flood Workshop and a completed FCN application by emailing it to compliance@pilotcat.com.

Pilot has offered our Flood Class in various locations throughout the country. If you are:

  • already certified - the Pilot Flood Class counts as a Workshop and allows you to maintain your certification
  • not yet certified and meet the NFIP's requirements - this class will give you the opportunity to obtain your FCN
  • a newer adjuster and do not yet meet the NFIP's requirements - this class will allow you to be a mentored adjuster for Pilot and work flood claims under our direction for the NFIP
  • This year, in order to meet our adjusters needs, we are adding a fourth day of instruction. The fourth day will focus specifically on Xactimate. It is not necessary to attend the fourth day of class to meet the flood certification requirements but it will provide Xactimate training specifically for flood claims. Also, the Pilot Flood Class is worth 15 CE hours and is one of the most cost effective ways for adjusters to gain these crucial credits.
