Pilot Catastrophe a great place to work.

General Auto Adjusting

What are the qualifications for an auto adjuster?
Because auto adjusting is very precise, we prefer either experienced adjusters or people with body shop experience.  Computer proficiency is a must. Also important are interpersonal skills because of the focus on customer service and satisfaction.  Additionally, working a catastrophe requires speed and organization.

What estimating systems does an automobile adjuster have to know how to operate?
These are the programs used by our various clients:
  • Audatex
  • Mitchell Ultramate
  • CCC Pathways

Does Pilot offer training for new auto adjusters?
Yes, on a limited basis.  We conduct a yearly 3-week technical training program.  We also offer classes on some of the estimating software.

How long can I expect to be deployed to an event?
That varies depending on time of year, location of storm and type of event (hail, flood, hurricane, etc.)

How long will I be gone during the typical Texas hail storm?
Depending on the size of the hail, 2-3 weeks or longer.

Can I stay busy all year long working automobile claims?
The typical storm season for an auto adjuster is March – May (Hail Season), June – September (Hurricane Season), and then different times of the year if there is a flood.

Are there certifications that I must pass before I can be deployed by Pilot as an automobile adjuster?

Yes.  Almost every client we work for requires a certification/evaluation to be completed prior to your deployment.  Pilot sponsors many of the certification/evaluation processes.

Do I need an adjuster’s license to work as an automobile adjuster?

Yes.  You need to be licensed in your resident state first (if it requires a license).  Then, there are other state licenses that will increase your deployment opportunities if you hold them.

Do I have to pay for my own expenses while working a storm?

Yes, each adjuster is responsible for his/her own expenses when deployed.

What type of environment will I be working in as an automobile adjuster?

Our automobile adjusters can/will work in many different environments.  Pilot provides all types of adjusters to our client companies.  As an automobile adjuster, you could be working in the field doing inspections each day or at a Client drive-in facility handling claims that come in every 20 minutes.  You could be deployed as a Total Loss Adjuster working inside at a desk each day, and/or you could be assisting in the storm office as clerical/support staff.

Will I need my own laptop computer?

In most instances, yes.  We currently have only one client who provides the laptop for the adjuster.

Do Pilot's auto client companies provide adjusters with the estimating software each requires?

Yes.  Our clients are currently providing the necessary software to our adjusters upon arrival at the storm site.
